It contains: Family and Local histories, U.S. Federal Census from 1790-1930, the Periodical Source Index (PERSI), the Revolutionary War Pension Applications & Bounty Land Warrant Applications and the Freedman's Bank Records.

Texas State Library and Archive Commission Online Collections

Collections include the 1919 Texas Rangers Investigation, free access to Texas, Andrew Jackson Houston Collection database, Civilian Conservation Corps drawings, fire insurance maps, Republic of Texas claims, Republic of Texas passports, Texas Adjutant General Service records from 1836-1935, and Texas Senate recordings from 1972-2006.

Texas Digital Sanborn Maps: 1867-1970

Provides digital access to large-scale maps of hundreds of Texas towns and cities. The Sanborn Map Company was a publisher of fire insurance maps for nearly 00 years. Sanborn maps are valuable research tools for historians, genealogists, urban planners, architects, environmentalists , and writers. Users have the ability to magnify and zoom in on specific sections, and easily print.

The University of Texas at Austin Libraries have digitized in color many Texas Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps, 1877-1922, and the Library of Congress is digitizing its complete collection as well.

The database contains biographies of famous historical and contemporary Texans. Also available is the Spanish-language newspaper El Sol de Texas with Texas and national news coverage.

Index of Confederate Pension Applications

The Index to Confederate Pension Applications provides the names, counties of residence, and pension numbers of 54,634 approved, rejected, and home pensions issued by the Texas government between 1899 and 1975. 

Genealogy Resources at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission

The Texas Family Heritage Research Center located at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission includes genealogical publications such as printed family and county histories, a variety of Texas government records, federal census schedules, and many other resources to help you compile your family history. Texas Texas allows free access to Texas State Library and Archives Commission records that have been digitized by Ancestry and is made available to Texas residents. Note: This access requires the creation of a free Texas account.
