To do this , in the Overdrive Media Console program, click on "Tools" in the taskbar, then "Windows Media Player Security Upgrade." Follow the on screen instructions and you will be able to listen to audiobooks.

    • For Kindle eBooks: You can download a free Kindle reading app for your computer or other devices to read Kindle eBooks even if you don't have a Kindle here

How It Works

Step 1: Browse
  • To sign in, click "My Account" or "Sign In" on the green toolbar at the top of the site. Select "Hamilton Public Library" from the drop down menu. Enter your card number and click "Sign In"
  • Browse the Central Texas Digital Library website.
  • You can search by title, subject, author, or format.
Step 2: Check Out
  • Add selection to your "Cart." Items will stay in the cart for 30 minutes. They will be removed if not checked out in that time period. If a title you want is not available, you may place a hold. You will be prompted for your email address and will receive an email when the title is obtainable. You will have 3 days after receiving the email to check out the item before your hold expires and moves to the next person on the list.
  • You may "Continue Browsing" or "Proceed to Checkout" after adding items to your cart.
  • When you are ready to checkout, the page will tell the lending period for each item. You will also learn "Maximum checkouts allowed at one time on my library card," "Current number of titles checked out," and "Checkouts remaining after this checkout."
Step 3: Download and enjoy!
  • Once you have checked out:
    • If the item is an ePUB or PDF: Click "Download" and "Open" when prompted to. This should automatically download and open the file in Adobe Digital Editions. You can read the book on your computer or transfer to a device. To transfer the book, plug your device into the computer. The program should automatically detect your device and show it in the left-hand column while viewing your "Library." To move the book, click on the title in the right pane and drag and drop it onto your device. It should now be located on your device for you to read and enjoy.
    • If the item is an audiobook: Click "Download" and "Open" when prompted to. This should automatically download and open the file in Overdrive Media Console. You may listen to the book on your computer or transfer to a device. To transfer the audiobook, highlight the title you wish to transfer, then click "Transfer" on the toolbar. Follow the guided instructions and you should then be able to listen to the audiobook on your device.
    • If the item is a Kindle book: Click "Get for Kindle." You will be directed to to "Get library book" and deliver it where you choose.
  • Items will automatically expire and be returned at the end of the checkout period. There are no late fees.
